Blackpool’s Brian ‘The Lion’ Rose makes the second defence of his British light-middleweight title against Paisley’s Kris Carslaw at Bowlers Arena in Manchester on Saturday.
We caught up with the champion and his trainer Bobby Rimmer to talk about them winning the title against Prince Arron and the first homecoming defence of the belt against Max Maxwell in Blackpool. He won on points that night at the Winter Gardens, against the only man to ever beat him. Rose found redemption that night, avenging that loss.
We do our Inside Boxing Q&A with Brian, catch up on his career to date and speak about the upcoming fight with Carslaw and his preparations for what he expects to be a tough defence of his newly required strap.
Brian and Bobby swapped the streets and Pennine hills around Manchester for the sun kissed sandy beaches of Portugal for this fight camp, and ‘The Lion’ has been pushing himself to the limit in his preparation. He has been sparring with Jamie Moore, who made the trip over with them, for the final weeks of work before this weekends tricky defence against southpaw Carslaw.
