~ Former British heavyweight champion Danny “Brixton Bomber” Williams takes on the reigning Finnish national and Baltic Boxing Union (BBU) heavyweight champion Janne “Finnish Butterbean” Katajisto for his belt on September 8 in Finland. William’s is now licensed by the Baltic League of Professional Boxing, making him eligible for their title.

~ David Haye could be set to face WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in March next year possibly in London. A rematch with his IBF, WBA and IBO champion brother Wladimir has not been ruled out either. Bernt Boente, manager of the Klitschko brothers, confirmed the interest in a fight with Haye when he said: “I won’t exclude anything.”

“A fight with Vitali could be an option. “While a rematch with Wladimir does not look feasible after he defeated David a year ago, anything can happen. Vitali meets Manuel Charr in September, then goes on the political campaign trail at the Ukraine elections which are held in October. “He has to win his fight and then see the outcome of the elections and Vitali must then decide what to do if he is not elected into a certain position. “There is still a chance the fight will come but not this year. It will probably be in England on pay-per-view next year, possibly in March.”

Haye was originally due to fight Vitali in September but decided instead to meet Dereck Chisora to settle their grudge after their Munich press conference brawl.

Boente added: “Haye knew the date and details and everything was fine then he decided to fight Dereck Chisora. They chose that fight because they got a good deal and an easier opponent.” Wladimir is also monitoring the Haye situation and said: “I will not exclude anything. I have learnt you can’t rely on anything he says or does.

“It is all in Haye’s hands. Whatever he wants, he just needs to approach.”

~ Savannah Marshall has been inducted into the Hall of Champions at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield after becoming Great Britain’s first ever female amateur boxing gold medallist. Savannah took the honor on her 21st birthday at the Women’s World Amateur Boxing Championships in China to secure qualification for London 2012.

first the Hammersmith star is US bound when he takes on tough Mexican
Francisco Sierra in San Jose, California, on Saturday 28th July in a ten
round contest which can be seen live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky
Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546). – This
will be Groves’ second appearance in the America, his first was against
Alfredo Contreras in Las Vegas in July 2010 who he stopped in the sixth
round.
