Prior to lockdown, super-middleweight Mickey Ellison was on a stellar run of form, following up a dramatic derby win over Charlie Schofield with a successful outing against Gianni Antoh and a first-round dismantling of Christian Kinsiona.
Now fully immersed in camp at the MTK Gym in Manchester, Ellison is preparing for an intriguing battle with Padraig McCrory on the 1st of September.
Ahead of the bout, Ellison emphasised to BBTV that to him ‘boxing like an addiction and he is looking to test himself and see how far he can go in the sport’.
He also revealed that the move to the MTK Gym was a natural one for him, having been travelling there regularly for sparring – he always felt part of the team and didn’t need to look anywhere else.
The clash adds to what is already an exceptional September card, headlined by Philip Bowes and Akeem Ennis-Brown, who collide for the Commonwealth and British Super Lightweight titles.
The English light-heavyweight title will also be on the line on the night, with heavy-handed pair Dan Azeez and Andre Sterling meet in a contest that promises fireworks whilst it lasts.
