Top Rank CEO and Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum has said that he now expects the highly-anticipated super-lightweight rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall to take place in January.
The pair fought over twelve pulsating rounds in Glasgow which concluded with Taylor’s hand being raised via split-decision, a result which proved highly controversial in the boxing world with many feeling the Englishman deserved the nod on the night to claim the undisputed championship at 140-pounds.
To his immense credit, Taylor has since vacated three of his four belts in order to ensure the path remains clear for a second fight with Catterall despite initially planning to move up to welterweight. Catterall meanwhile has penned a multi-fight deal with BOXXER and Sky Sports in what is an encouraging sign for a potential rematch to take place, with Sky holding a promotional broadcasting deal with Taylor’s promoter Top Rank.
An exact date and location for the fight is yet to be revealed at the time of writing as talks continue.
