Matchroom Boxing and Leigh Wood have now officially confirmed that the thirty-four-year-old’s upcoming clash with Mauricio Lara on 24th September has been postponed following a torn bicep in training. Eddie Hearn, who will promote the show, has also confirmed that Maxi Hughes vs Kid Galahad has now been upgraded to the main event at the Nottingham Arena.

In a statement posted to Wood’s social media, the Nottingham man wrote, “Heartbreaking to confirm that I have had to postpone my fight against Mauricio Lara with a torn bicep. My sympathy is with Lara who I am sure has also been working extremely hard for the fight“.

The always classy Wood also urged fans who have bought a ticket to still head to the Arena and support those stepping into the ring on the night. “The event will still go ahead on the 24th and I would like to wish all the best to the other fighters on the card. It would be great if you could all still attend and offer your support“.

Shown live on streaming platform DAZN, Scotland’s Hannah Rankin looks to defend her super-welterweight world title versus Doncaster’s Terri Harper, while a host of other prospects are set to appear, including heavyweight Solomon Dacres‘ ten-round clash with Dominic Akinlade, as well as Cheavon Clarke, Nico Leivars and Rhiannon Dixon.
