WBA super-welterweight champion Terri Harper will collide with former undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus, Matchroom Boxing have announced.

The fight was formally announced via social media on Thursday evening with a date and venue to be confirmed.

Doncaster’s Harper became a two-weight champion when she outpointed Scotland’s Hannah Rankin in September.

Norway’s Braekhus meanwhile surrendered her undisputed titles at 147lbs in back-to-back defeats to Jessica McCaskill 2020 and 2021.

Harper overcame Rankin via unanimous decision in September to become WBA champion at super-welterweight. Picture by Mark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing.

The 41-year-old returned in December with a comfortable six-round decision in California and was linked with a fight against Liverpool’s Natasha Jonas.

The latter fought to a controversial draw against Harper in August 2020 with many feeling the Liverpudlian deserved the nod on the evening.

A rematch between the pair failed to develop and Jonas has since teamed up with BOXXER where she has tied up three of the major titles at 154lbs.

Team Jonas are however adamant that a second fight is now off the table with Harper despite the pair occupying all four belts between them at super-welterweight.

Harper will now take on Braekhus in her first fight of 2023.
