American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin will return against Junior Anthony Wright at Detroit’s Masonic Temple on July 15th.
The fight will take place on the undercard of undisputed super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner‘s rematch with Christina Linardatou.
Franklin’s last two bouts have taken place on British soil as the American initially lost a narrow majority-decision to Dillian Whyte in November before losing wide over twelve rounds against former champion Anthony Joshua three months ago.
The 29 year old (21-2-0, 14KOs) reacted to the fight announcement via social media, simply writing “I’m back” as he looks to return to winning ways in two weeks’ time.
Illinois’ Wright (20-4-1, 17KOs) has won his last two outings inside the distance against albeit lesser opposition as he hopes to change his fortunes against Franklin on July 15th.
The main event sees Baumgardner’s first defence as undisputed champion at 130lbs against the only opponent to have beaten her in the professional ranks.
Greece’s Linardatou overcame the American via split-decision after ten close rounds in 2018.
Cuban amateur sensation and Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz also makes his pro debut on the card, live on DAZN.
