Caroline Dubois has fired back at Eddie Hearn‘s claim that Beatriz Ferreira would beat every fighter who is not a world champion around the super-featherweight division.
The 22 year old also questioned Hearn’s promotion of the Brazilian after her UK debut in Sheffield on Saturday.
In a clip posted to Matchroom Boxing‘s Twitter account, Hearn said: “[Ferreira’s] ready for world titles. I saw someone say ‘what a fight Beatriz Ferreira against Caroline Dubois would be’. Why not make it now?
“This is the problem with boxing. I’ll roll the dice on that fight now. I think Beatriz Ferreira beats everybody, maybe not Alycia Baumgardner just yet but everybody outside the world champions.”
Dubois responded to the clip, branding Hearn a ‘joker’ for placing Ferreira so down the card at the Utilita Arena.
“Didn’t even put her on the main card!”, Dubois said. “Listen this is a business as well as a sport, bias a great fighter one id love to share the ring with. But at this rate I guess he’ll have us fighting the first fight on the card. He’s gotta do a better job at building her!”
Both Dubois and Ferreira competed in the lightweight division at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Team GB’s Dubois, who was only 18 at the time, suffered defeat the quarter-final stage while Ferreira claimed silver.
The latter marked a successful UK debut on Saturday with a competitive eight-round points victory over rugged Mexican Karla Zamora.
The win was the 30 year old’s third in as many pro outings since entering the paid ranks in November.
Dubois meanwhile has won all seven of her pro bouts, winning inside the distance in five.
