Dr.Iron Fist vs The Hayemaker?
WBC heavyweight champion ‘Dr Iron fist’ Vitali Klitschko wants to fight WBA heavyweight champion David Haye before he retires from boxing. Klitschko, says he is sick of Haye’s constant trash talking and wants to put him away to shut his trap for good.
Ukrainian Klitschko retained his title at the weekend, and produced another methodical performance as he forced a tenth round stoppage of London-based Pole Albert Sosnowski in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
“I was in good form,” he said. “Sosnowski is younger than me, but people saw that I did well against him. My experience got me through.” added Klitschko.
Age? Is Vitali aged 38, considering the age advantage, Haye at just 29, would have on him, and was Sosnowski, a younger heavyweight, a fight of preparation, in waiting for a unification fight with Haye?
We reported last week that Haye was looking at setting up an all British heavyweight clash with 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist and former friend Audley Harrison next rather than the Klitschko brothers, although a fight between either or, is defiantly making final draft in the Haymaker board room.
The barracking, funny t-shirts and the fact that Haye won the WBA title, a valued version of the dissected heavyweight crown, has got Haye his wish. In rattling up the brothers grim into fighting him.
They are calling him out now, but the one stumbling block that is going to halt any progress in signing on the dotted lines, Is the age old decider, the money!
Klitschko still doesn’t think Haye has done enough in his heavyweight career to date, to warrent a share of the heavyweight purse.
“All Haye does is trash talk” said Klitschko. and he wants to get him in the ring to prove how good – or in his case, how not so good Haye is. getting Haye in the ring and the fight happening may be a difficult thing, because he wants a 50-50 deal with either of the Klitschko brothers just to start with, even though Haye has done little in the heavyweight division compared to the Klitschko brothers.”
Haye believes that because of his popularity, a fight between him and one of the Klitschko brothers would be huge, and feels that he also now brings solid bargaining chips to the table, in the form of PPV Tv sales and his growing popularity here in the UK and over in the US. Winning the WBA heavyweight title has made Haye shown Haye to be a genuine force in the ring and at the negotiating table!
“I want to fight Haye because I want another belt. My brother Wladimir wants to fight him because it’s personal and he wants to shut Haye’s mouth. When he faces one of us it will be the end of his career.”
Emanuel Steward, the legendary Kronx coach and trainer to the the Klitschko brothers, believes its time for Haye to stop shouting and get in the ring.
“Haye made a lot of noise about himself, and built his reputation in the heavyweight division by shouting out the Klitschko brothers. Now it’s time to man up and face them in the ring.” said Steward.
Haye has got his wish, the doctor will now see him, in the ring!
