Curtis Woodhouse says he’ll KO Peter McDonagh on Saturday – and set up a big showdown with rival Frankie Gavin.
.
The former professional footballer is chief support at London’s York Hall to Liam Walsh’s Commonwealth super-featherweight title challenge, live on Sky Sports.
.
And he’s got his sights firmly set on 2007 Amateur world champion Frankie Gavin. (below right)
.
The Brummie is due to challenge Dean Harrison for the Commonwealth light-welterweight title in December.
.
And Woodhouse is hoping to meet him at the start of 2011.
.
“Me against Gavin is a natural fight to make,” said the Driffield star, who fights again under the Frank Warren banner.
.
“He’s got a great amateur record and I’ve got nothing but respect for what he has achieved as a professional so far.
.
“But has he been tested by anyone yet? Not at all.
.
“He’s not had a hard fight, but he’ll get one against me if he’s man enough to step up to the plate.
.
“I’ve stopped my last four opponents, three of them in 10 rounders, and I feel like I’m beginning to get some momentum.
.
“I’ve always said that I’ll be a better fighter over the championship distance, and I think I’ve proved that in my last few fights.
.
“Gavin beat McDonagh back in February, but he couldn’t stop him.
.
“If I knock him out that will send out a big statement, and I don’t think Frankie can say no to a fight with me if I do.”
.
Tickets are available from the Frank Warren Promotions Box Office on 01992 550 888.
