Fight Video: British welterweight champion, Kell Brook blew away Ghanaian Philip Kotey in two rounds. A left hook by Brook dropped the Ghanaian at the end of the opening round, but the bell saved an un-steady Kotey to get him through, but it seemed inevitable he wouldn’t last much longer.
Brooke the young Yorkshire prospect from Sheffield looked good in this latest of performances on the ‘Return of the Magnificent Seven’ boxing show at the echo Arena in Liverpool on 11th December 2010.
Brook’s skills and speed were too much for Kotey, who bravely tried to fight back, but Brooks stinging accurate shots, were starting to catch cleanly and it was evident the African was way out of his depth,
Brook is still to go the full 12 rounds championship distance and now needs to step up to fight a world class opponent and test his skills.
Another quick return to the ring would be advisable for Brook, to keep active and fresh, and ready to step up when the chance occur.
An eliminator for a world title, could be on the horizon or a straight shot at Manny Paquiao’s WBO welterweight belt, which Brook is number 1 challenger for, and Frank Warren could look to implement the fact he is number one and push for the WBO to give Brook his shot against Paquiao or vacate the title and Brook then could fight a select opponent for the title.
Brooke certainly looks on the way to realising his ambitions of fighting for a version of the world crown in the near future and with Manny Paquiao apparently drawing up a short list for his next ring visit, Brook could well be called upon…..watch this space!
