As far back as I can remember, I have had a love affair with the sport of boxing. If I recall my earliest memories of being enthralled with boxing, I think back to being allowed to stay awake way beyond my regular bedtime, in order to watch the ‘Prince’ Naseem Hamed fights. As a young fight fan, the flamboyant style of the former featherweight champion was a spectacle I couldn't take my eyes off.
I had my first bout for Donnington ABC at the age of 13. I went onto have over 40 amateur bouts, reaching the junior ABA semi-finals and representing the Midland counties on several occasions. I finished boxing at the age of 17 and decided to pursue a career in sports writing. I am very proud to have graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a first class honours degree in Sports Journalism.
Whilst I am a passionate follower of many sports, I believe the magic and anticipation of a big fight is something that can’t be replicated. Boxing undoubtedly provides me with a joy that no other sport can.
