Unbeaten Manchester boxing pair Karl Place and Terry Flanagan will embark on their latest fighting challenge tonight Feb 5, 2010 – on the undercard of Jason Booth’s British super-bantamweight title defence against commonwealth champion Jamie Arthur at the Brentwood Leisure Centre in Essex.
Place will be taking on London based Bulgarian Danny Dontchev, in a tick over fight until a title shot this year beckons for him – A stoppage win for Place would be a good night’s work against the durable but serial loser Dontche.
Flanagan faces Devon’s Lewis Browning over 6×3 rounds. It should be an interesting match-up of the 21 year old boxers. Flanagan is unbeaten in 9 fights, 4 coming by knockout. While Browning has had 5 won 4 and lost 1. That loss though coming somewhat controversially in his last fight against Matthew Edmonds last December. The referee scored the fight 57-60 to Edmonds, but with many ringsiders believing that Browning had done enough.
So with big things being touted for Flanagan in Manchester and Browning looking to get his young career back on track, this will be an interesting yard stick to see where both might just end up and which one will fulfill their promise? Flanagan is set to fight again next month in Manchester and should out-point Browning to make that date a possibility.
