George Groves with David Haye
A full British affair will loom in California on Saturday with George Groves’s expectations of win over Mexican Francisco Sierra in the preliminary fight before the Robert Guerrero vs. Selcuk Aydin main event, and the British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight Champion will be aiming for the sky.
Sierra, 24, has knocked 22 of his past foes with tremendous punching power, Groves said, “I don’t think it’s an easy fight, he’s a good fighter, but he’s there to be beat and I’m sure I’ll comfortably beat him.”

Changing promoters from Hayemaker to Frank Warren recently has been in Groves’ best interests and his first fight under Warren back in November 2011 was just proof of that. He beat British champion Paul Smith in just two rounds at Wembley Arena to retain his British and Commonwealth titles.
Groves is managed and trained by Adam Booth who has already joined him in the American camp and they are relaxing before the intensity of Saturday night.  He wants to show his skills and is excited to be fighting in the states; he knows that Sierra will be looking for the knockout.  Grove’s said, “ Having time out of the ring is normal, I won’t have more than two or three fights a year, you’ll see a new side to me and I’ll show more variety and more fluid style.”
This will be Groves’s second fight in the states even though previous injuries forced him out of other fights he’s also booked into fight again on September 14th and will be extremely busy.  His camp has gone smoothly and he is very excited to fight in front of an American audience he said, “Getting time on Showtime is great, I’m not sure if it’s chief support, it’s a 10 rounder and getting exposure in the states is great, that’s the main thing for me.”
Groves has been showing good spirit whiler in the states and is not showing any pressure; instead he’s happy to be tweeting his fans and giving them the regular updates about his progress and moves.  He said in the previous press conference, “It feels like a lifetime ago since I fought and I need to make up for lost time seeing as I haven’t managed one round of competitive fighting this year.”
George Groves vs. Francisco Sierra will be live on Boxnation on Sunday morning (ring walk 2am) on Sky channel 437 and Virgin channel 546.
