WBO Light-Heavyweight Champion of the World Nathan Cleverly is the underdog going into his 6th world title defence against the ‘Krusher’ Sergey Kovalev the unbeaten knockout artist who is ranked one of the most dangerous fighters in the game.
The fight takes place at the Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff this Saturday night and the unbeaten Kovalev has vowed to show the Cefn Fforest man his power is not overrated.
The unbeaten Kovalev has recorded 19 of his 21 wins inside the distance and feels he deserves more respect from Cleverly ahead of their clash at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on Saturday.
The Russian, who boxes out of Florida, claims he will show Cleverly he is no hype job, Cleverly is up against it here, but a win will propel him onto the top table and will secure him super fights with the best, there is a lot at stake and this promises to be a belter!
“I’m not called ‘the Krusher’ for no reason and all will be clear when I fight Nathan Cleverly and he is knocked out,” Kovalev said. He isnt coming here to mess about and added, in a quote that could have made it into Rocky 4; “My job is to win and that is what I have done and will do.” If Cleverly or the British fans were not taking him seriously by then, he added; “Cleverly will be the best opponent so far in my professional career. It will be a great fight for the fans while it lasts, but you will see a new world champion crowned.”
What do we reckon British fight fans is Nathan up against it? Or will he prove the bookies wrong and prove he is the world class winner we always fought he was?
