On Saturday March 15th London fight fans will finally get their first opportunity to witness first hand the exciting Queensbury Boxing League competition, when the show touches down in the capital at the iconic Alexandra Palace for the biggest show in the promotions history.
Launched back in 2011, as an exciting new boxing competition open to British based fighters looking to both launch and revive their careers, the shows heady mix of fast explosive 50/50 fights, mixed with the glamour and entertainment more associated with the big American shows has attracted an army of loyal fans over the last two seasons with its run on prominent satellite based sports channel British Eurosport, and the promotional duo behind the revolutionary show believe their first outing in London is just the start of the league’s potential to grow into Europe’s biggest boxing event.
Featuring a stacked fourteen fight card headlined by the showdown for the shows version of the British Light Middleweight title between league standouts Gareth Gardner and Sam Holloway the night boasts unquestionably the competitions most talent packed line up since the league was launched, and the shows co promoter former English Welterweight champion Ross Minter believes the evening will further establish the league’s deserved reputation as one of the most exciting boxing nights in the country.
Talking at the Capital Shakedown promotional launch at the Ally Pally Minter said:: “ For me boxing is the greatest sport in the world, but I think over the last ten years its lost a lot of its entertainment and glamour, but the Queensbury Boxing League is here to bring all of that back in a big way and I’m really excited about this event at the Alexandra Palace as I know its going to be a fantastic night”
“ The reason the fans love the shows is because its all about fast explosive contests with even money fights all the way through the season, so there’s not even time to blink when you watch a Queensbury contest”
“Looking at the line up we’ve put together and how many of the shows biggest names are on the bill I just can’t see this being anything other than explosive. You’ve got the mouth-watering main event between Sam Holloway and Gareth Gardner for our British Light Middleweight title, former amateur stand outs Anthony Johnson versus Yisan Rodriguez facing each other for Rodriguez’s British Light Cruiserweight belt, and former undefeated pro Ruben Giles versus Danny “Dynamite” Lineham for the British Middleweight title”
“ There is a huge amount of hype about the league now, and its fan base is growing every day, so I think London is going to see just why the competition has attracted such a strong following and its going to be a historic night for everyone involved.
