Hackney’s cruiserweight contender Anthony Yarde talked about relishing his spot on the undercard of Liam Smith’s WBO light-middleweight title defence against Saul Alvarez at the AT&T stadium, Texas yet the 25-year-old did not hang around to savour the moment—the 25-year-old ruthlessly dispatched Texan Rayford Johnson in a single stanza to move to 8-0 (7 KOs).

Rayford was stopped at 2:10 of the opening round to drop to 11-21 (6 KOs). Yarde is now free to enjoy his night and will set his sights on his next fight date. He meets TBA at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on October 22 as he bids to continue a busy 2016

Yarde has had six outings this year, all stoppage wins, and will hope to put on another display of punching power in Wales next month as he continues to learn his trade and makes his way into title contention.
