Anthony Joshua is determined to unify the heavyweight championship belts as quickly as possible and one thing that he feels would speed up the process would be for Deontay Wilder to fight Luis Ortiz. Wilder holds the WBC heavyweight belt and is yet to decide who to face next, although it is rumored that his camp are in talks about a possible defense of his title against Ortiz. If Joshua does face Wilder to unify the belts, betting sites have him as the favorite to do so.

Ortiz is Joshua’s mandatory challenger for the WBA belt but the British superstar is expected to face Kubrat Pulev in his next fight to defend his title. If that was to happen it would delay Joshua fighting Wilder to unify the belts until next summer. If Ortiz fights Wilder and not waiting for Joshua it would mean that it would give the British boxer a chance to unify the belts in his next fight after facing Pulev.

Wilder Vs. Ortiz is a fight that would get boxing fans excited and certainly help keep up the excitement in the heavyweight division. For too long there has been too little and too boring fights to get the fans excited but we seem to be entering a new era It is one which Joshua wants to dominate and the only way he will become one of the greats is by unifying all the belts. If this fight goes ahead it will help to make this dream come true faster.

If Joshua can defend his belt against Pulev and Wilder can do the same against Ortiz it will set up an epic fight that will go down in the history books. If they both pass their test it will increase the interest from fans and set up a huge payday for both fighters.

If things go to plan we could see Joshua face Wilder at the start of 2018 with the winner becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Both boxers are undefeated which adds to the excitement of the two finally fight. Both boxers are popular with fans and are fantastic role models for the sport.

Now that the boring Klitschko era is over, the interest in heavyweight boxing is gaining rapid popularity once again. It is thanks to knock out artist Joshua and Wilder why the sport has become popular again. If the division can keep on producing top fights without having to wait years, exciting times are ahead.

At only 27 years old if Joshua beats Wilder he could dominate the division for the next decade. It has been a long time since we have had a champ that wins by KO and not boring decision. Boxing is in desperate need for a new star as its popularity has faded over recent years thanks to the rise of the UFC. Now that Floyd Mayweather has retired, boxing needs a new star and Joshua more than fills those boots.
