Unbeaten WBO Inter-continental super-lightweight champion and former Lonsdale belt holder Jack ‘El Gato’ Catterall continued his winning streak and moved a step closer to a world title crack, after outpointing Londoner Ohara Davies on Saturday night in defence his title.
Catterall, (23-0, 12KOs) was a wide winner on the judges scorecards, a decision that didn’t go down well with Davies, who thought he was deserving of the win.
The fight wasn’t a classic brawl, but more a tactical battle of the jabs, with neither boxer opening up over the 12 rounds, but the common consensus was that ‘El Gato’ was the rightful winner.
We visited Jack today in his home town of Chorley in Lancashire, where we found a relaxed fighter, happy with his latest victory and ready to push on to a world title shot. Jack opens up about the Davies fight and gives his candid thoughts on his opponents insistence, he won the fight.
Jack also reveals he came out of the fight with a very sore toe, after Davies was trodding on it all night! And tells us what treat he had after the fight.
