Last week’s announcement that Frank Warren was set to mark the return of live British boxing with a string of title bouts, meant that Lerrone Richards was about to take centre stage.

In a fight that has already peaked the intrigue of fans, the undefeated British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion is scheduled to on Umar Sadiq live on BT Sport.

Having been training with Ismael Salas in Las Vegas prior to the lockdown, Richards has been raring to get back into the ring once it’s safe to do so.

Although he was reluctant to look past Sadiq, someone who he has known for a long time, he did is gunning for a potential clash with Chris Eubank Jr.

He told BBTV: “I have always wanted to be the best I can be, so I’m just going to keep training and keep grafting and keep winning then my opportunity will come and when it does I will take it with both hands.

“I will box whoever is put in front of me, but the person I would like to fight … Chris Eubank Jr.

“We had an altercation when I was a four-fight novice and he didn’t treat me so well and he said to me ‘I wouldn’t make it’ that was when he was a British champion – I’m British champion, so does that mean I have made it?

“He made me feel small, so I think it’s about time that we cleared a few things up and we clear them up in the ring.”
