In his first fight as a Matchroom boxer, Aqib Fiaz takes a step up on Friday when he takes on Birmingham’s Kane Baker on Friday night.

The fight is one of the most anticipated on the second week of Matchroom Fight Camp, which takes place from Brentwood and is headlined by the historic clash between Natasha Jonas and Terri Harper.

Commenting on the fight, Fiaz emphasised his belief that the experience he has acquired training abroad and in first five fights will mean that he has too much for Baker.

He added: “There are levels in boxing and I believe I am a few levels above Kane Baker. You have little things, that you know are going to work on the night, a few shots and movements and we have worked on them, I have trained really hard and for my first eight-rounder I’m very very fit.

“But, I believe that when you get in there on the night you have to make adjustments and I believe that the level I have boxed at as an amateur will pay dividends as well.”

On the influence of his coach Jamie Moore, he added: “Jamie is very calm, he is very experienced not just as a fighter, but he has been coaching for a long time at a very high level as well. He takes it all in his stride and it’s something I can watch and learn from.”
