Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing have today announced that British light-heavyweights Joshua Buatsi (15-0-0) and Craig Richards (17-2-1) will clash in a big domestic dust-up on May 21st, the venue to be confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday 22nd March.
Last time out, Buatsi scored an eleventh round TKO of Ricards Bolotniks in August, 2021 at Matchroom HQ but has long suffered from inactivity, originally scheduled to face Russia’s Maxim Vlasov at the end of last year before another injury ruled him out. Richards meanwhile stopped Marek Matyja in six back in October, five months after challenging WBA champion Dmitry Bivol whereby he lost widely on the cards but impressed in spells despite the large step-up in levels.
The undercard for the event is yet to be announced at the time of writing.
