The Holte Suite at Villa Park played host to a Tommy Owens promoted card on Saturday night in Birmingham which saw local man Ishmael Ellis pickup the vacant Midlands Area lightweight title in a ten-round contest against Louis Fielding of Tamworth. Ellis edged a close decision on the cards by a score of 96-94 in the eyes of referee Kevin Parker, picking up the Midlands strap at the second time of asking, initially losing out on the title in a 2019 contest versus Jack O’Keeffee. Ellis’ record now stands at 14-4-0 while Fielding’s reads at 10-7-0 respectively.
Michael Hennessy Jr also attained another victory at 154lbs across six rounds. George Rogers was in the opposing corner, with referee Chris Dean adjudging Hennessy Jr a 59-55 winner at the conclusion of the bout. Hennessy Jr’s record now stands at 9-1-1. Super-bantamweight Megan Radstall moved to 2-0-0 as a pro with a comfortable four rounds victory over Claudia Ferenczi, referee Dean scoring the contest 40-36. Super-welterweight prospect Oli Cassidy picked up his fifth professional victory in as many fights, running out a 39-37 winner over Richard Helm in a four-round bout. Tyler Christopher moved to 4-0-0 with a whitewash 40-36 card over MJ Hall at welterweight, while Samuel Pikire made his debut at lightweight with a dominant four-round victory against Liam Richards.
