Super-lightweight king Josh Taylor has been confirmed to no longer hold the WBA title at 140lbs with the Scotsman choosing to vacate the belt after choosing not to face mandatory challenger Alberto Puello.
Initial reports indicated that the WBA had stripped the thirty-one-year-old of the title, but Taylor later confirmed on Twitter that he had voluntarily given up the belt after discussions with the governing body last week.
Puello will now presumably challenge for the vacant belt in the near future, with Ismael Barroso number two in the rankings respectively. Britain’s Ohara Davies stands at third, with Lewis Ritson and Jack Catterall twelfth respectively.
