Dominic Ingle revealed in an interview with Boxing King Media on Monday that former welterweight champion Kell Brook is considering a return to professional boxing just four months on from announcing his retirement from the sport.
The ‘Special One’ looked to have bowed out with perfecting timing following his sixth-round stoppage victory over bitter rival Amir Khan in Manchester earlier this year but it appears he could be tempted back into the squared circle following offers to fight either Liam Smith or the winner of the upcoming catchweight showdown between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.
For a man who shipped a lot of punishment in an eighteen-year career, including two serious eye injuries sustained in damaging defeats to Gennadiy Golovkin and Errol Spence Jr. respectively, it would be a shame to see the thirty-six-year-old risk his health and faculties for fights few would give him a chance of victory in, particular given the fairytale manner of his success over Khan which seemed the perfect opportunity to ride out into the sunset and reap the rewards of all he has earned during a glittering tenure as a professional.
