IBF flyweight champion Sunny Edwards has reportedly agreed terms to face mandatory challenger Felix Alvarado in London on November 11th in what would be the twenty-six-year-old’s first fight on home soil since winning the title nearly eighteen months ago.

Nicaraguan boxing journalist Levi Luna first reported the news that a deal had been reached between the two respective teams, while BoxingScene reports that the bout will take place at a venue in the capital which is yet to be determined at the time of writing.

Edwards’ two defences so far have both taken place in Dubai against Jayson Mama and Muhammed Waseem respectively, and the thirty-three-year-old Alvarado is expected to offer a step-up in class for the Croydon man having only been beaten on two occasions in a forty-bout career so far. Hopes were strong to see the Brit unify against Mexico’s Julio Cesar Martinez in his next fight, a man his family has history with given his contest with Edwards’ brother Charlie in 2019, but a deal could not be struck and so Edwards will look to take care of business against his mandatory challenger at the end of this year instead.
