IBF flyweight champion Sunny Edwards (18-0-0, 4KOs) will defend his world title versus mandatory challenger Felix Alvarado (38-2-0, 33KOs) at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena on November 11th.

Edwards, who was born in Croydon but now bases himself out of the Steel City with trainer Grant Smith, will be looking to make the third successful defence of his title after previous victories over Jayson Mama and Muhammed Waseem. Rumours initially circled that Edwards would unify against WBC flyweight king Julio Cesar Martinez, but the more time drew on it became apparent that the pair would not be able to meet in a professional ring until 2023 at the earliest.

Alvarado meanwhile previously reigned as IBF champion at light-flyweight and, despite being thirty-three, offers a dangerous task for the Briton having won thirty-three of his thirty-eight victories inside the distance.

An intriguing domestic super-bantamweight contest is scheduled for the undercard between prospects Jack Bateson (17-0-0, 4KOs) and Shabaz Masoud (10-0-0, 3KOs), both of whom boast undefeated records thus far. The bout will be a final eliminator for Liam Davies‘ British super-bantamweight title.

Richard Schaefer’s Probellum will promote the card, while no UK broadcaster has been confirmed to showcase the event at the current time of writing.
