Promoter Eddie Hearn told FightHubTV that Anthony Joshua is now set to return in the earlier part of 2023.
December 17th was the initial date targeted for Joshua’s first fight since his rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in August.
Team Joshua were then locked in talks about a potential showdown with fellow Brit Tyson Fury for December 3rd.
The date, venue and purse splits were reportedly agreed but talks eventually broke down due to disputes over commercial deals. Fury has since announced a fight with Dereck Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Otto Wallin and Chris Arreola have been rumoured as potential opponents for ‘AJ’ as the journey towards becoming a three-time heavyweight champion begins.
