The EBU have now mandated that Britain’s Dan Azeez must face Thomas Faure for the vacant European title at light-heavyweight.

The news comes following the retirement of Callum Johnson earlier in the week.

Johnson was set to challenge for the vacant strap against France’s Faure before calling time on his professional career.

Azeez penned a deal with BOXXER and Sky Sports last year after picking up the vacant British title with a seventh-round stoppage of Hosea Burton.

The Lewisham man most recently defended the strap with a unanimous decision victory over Shakan Pitters in September.

Azeez now looks to add the European belt to his collection as he climbs the ranks of a healthy British light-heavyweight division.

Purse bids are set to take place on 1st December Rome time for a potential clash between Azeez and Faure.
