Matchroom Boxing‘s Eddie Hearn has announced that Dalton Smith will make the third defence of his British super-lightweight title versus Sam Maxwell on April 29th.

The fight, which is set to take place at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena, could see Smith win the British belt outright following two successful defences so far.

The second came in Nottingham on Saturday when Smith dominated and floored Billy Allington over twelve rounds.

Smith did however suffer a cut on the night but the 26-year-old was confident it would not delay the bout against Maxwell.

“To be honest, I think it was the cut that opened up from the last fight [against Kaisee Benjamin] in November”, Smith said.

“I probably could’ve done with a bit more time to heal but it doesn’t look too deep so a bit of glue and I’ll be ready to go.”

The latter was also victorious early on in the night in a six-round encounter versus Shaun Cooper.

Maxwell won every round on referee Kieran McCann’s scorecard to mark a successful return to the ring after a ten-month layoff.
