Promoter Eddie Hearn has stated that British light-heavyweight Joshua Buatsi has fulfilled the final fight of his deal with Matchroom Boxing.

Hearn did however tell iFL TV that Matchroom retains matching rights on the 29-year-old which allow them to match any potential offer made.

Buatsi hasn’t fought since his unanimous decision victory over Craig Richards in May and was a pundit for fellow Brit Anthony Yarde‘s eighth-round defeat to Artur Beterbiev on BT Sport at the weekend

Fans have longed for an all-British showdown between Buatsi and Yarde at 175lbs atop of a flourishing domestic light-heavyweight division.

Buatsi, who won bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016, has struggled with inactivity since turning professional in 2017.

The Brit now trains in America with veteran trainer Virgil Hunter as Buatsi grows closer to a world title shot in 2023.
