Matchroom Boxing officially announced a highly-anticipated rematch between Ireland’s Katie Taylor and Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The announcement was made in the ring following Serrano’s unanimous decision victory over Erika Cruz in New York for the undisputed featherweight titles.
An exact venue is yet to be tied down but the rematch will take place in Dublin for what will prove Taylor’s first fight in her native Ireland as a professional.
The pair fought across ten hellacious rounds at Madison Square Garden in April last year in one of the year’s standout contests for the Irish fighter’s undisputed lightweight titles.
Taylor emerged victorious via split-decision with attention immediately turning to a second fight between the pair.
The bout failed to develop for 2022 and Taylor defended her belts with a comfortable ten-round victory over Argentina’s Karen Carabajal in October.
Serrano meanwhile opted to unify three of the four major featherweight titles versus Sarah Mahfoud in Manchester before completing the set with a narrow victory over Cruz in New York on Sunday morning UK time.
