Swansea’s Jay Harris picked up the British flyweight title with a tenth-round stoppage of Tommy Frank at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on Friday evening.
Frank’s corner threw in the towel midway through the tenth after a punishing Harris display in front of the BBC iPlayer cameras.
The pair started fast in a nip-and-tuck affair before Harris began to pick Frank off at mid-range.
Frank continued ploughing forward as he let his hands go on the inside but the experience of Harris slowly emerged as he caught Frank’s shots before letting his own blows go.
Harris targeted the body of Frank all night, an investment which looked to pay off as the final third of the fight approach with the champion slowing.
The ninth saw Harris’ most dominant round of the evening, rocking Frank with short left hooks and hard straight rights on the ropes.
Sheffield’s Frank never faltered as he looked to defend his title but the writing looked to be on the wall as more punishing blows landed from the former world title challenger Harris.
Referee Steve Gray seemed moments away from halting the contest himself before the towel flew in from the Frank corner as Harris added the British to his old Commonwealth and European belts.
Former Team GB fighter Tori-Ellis Willetts marked her professional debut with a third-round stoppage of Klaudia Ferenczi at bantamweight.
Willetts dominated behind the jab before rocking the Slovakian with multiple right-hands before attacking Ferenczi’s body.
The latter was tiring and struggling to defend herself, forcing referee Darren Sarginson to halt the contest in the final seconds of the round.
The loss was only Ferenczi’s seventh inside the distance in 102 losses.
Further down the card, super-lightweight Keanen Wainwright halted Michal Dufek in the seventh, while Jordan Barker outpointed Vaida Masiokaite over six rounds also at 140lbs.
Light-heavyweight Nicolie Campbell also dominated Daryl Sharp, winning all six rounds on referee Sarginson’s scorecard.
