BOXXER have confirmed that former world champion Mikaela Mayer and current British champion Lauren Price have been added to the undercard of Liam Smith‘s rematch with Chris Eubank Jr next week.

The pair were added to the Sky Sports Box Office event which takes place at Manchester’s AO Arena on September 2nd.

Mayer set for third consecutive UK fight

Colorado’s Mayer is no stranger to competing on British shores having had her last two fights in London.

The 33 year old first surrendered her IBF and WBO super-featherweight titles in an all-American unification bout with Alycia Baumgardner in October after losing narrowly by split-decision.

A move up in weight to lightweight followed with the Rio 2016 Olympian defeating Lucy Wildheart over ten rounds in her return.

Mayer has now moved up another division for next weekend’s contest as she takes on Italy’s Silvia Bortot (11-2-1, 3KOs) at super-lightweight.

The latter most recently suffered a split-decision defeat to France’s Flora Pili for the vacant European title at 140lbs.

Price returns after making history last time out

Four months on from becoming the first ever female British champion, Wales’ Price is set for her fifth professional outing after entering the paid ranks in June last year.

A dominant display against former European champion Kirstie Bavington saw Price add the British title to the Olympic gold medal she claimed in Tokyo two years ago.

The 29 year old has hardly put a foot wrong as a pro, winning all four of her contests so far at a canter including one which came inside the distance.

Price’s opponent in Manchester is yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.

The rest of the undercard

Oldham super-middleweight Mark Heffron (29-2-1, 23KOs) defends his British title against Little Lever’s Jack Cullen (21-4-1, 9KOs), while Burton-on-Trent heavyweight Frazer Clarke (7-0, 5KOs) takes on Doncaster’s experienced Dave Allen (21-5-2, 18KOs).

Slough’s super-lightweight prospect Adam Azim (8-0, 6KOs) also features against Ukraine’s Aram Faniian (23-1, 5KOs) over ten rounds after the pair were initially set to meet in June.

Smith aims for another stoppage victory in the main event

After a scintillating fourth-round stoppage victory in January, Liam Smith is confident of securing consecutive victory’s over Brighton’s Chris Eubank Jr.

The Liverpudlian floored the latter at the same venue eight months ago before eventually handing Eubank Jr his first stoppage defeat in his 35th outing.

Eubank Jr recently teamed up with Terence Crawford trainer Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre as he looks to overturn the result from the start of the year.
