David Haye is hoping that Wladimir Klitschko will change his mind, reverse his decision to fight Dereck Chisora and sign to fight him.
Haye, feels the public should demand that Klitschko fights him and is desperate for the fight to happen before his proposed retirement next year, to claim the titles they hold and the chance to stake his claim and legacy in British boxing history of our best fighters.
All Klitschko’s demands were apparently met by Hayemaker and the Londoner is said to have bent over backwards to accommodate Wladimir’s wishes. For him then to pull out in final negotiations and sign to fight British champion Chisora (left), in a fight that was postponed previous, after the world champion was injured in training, it seems he got over it quickly!
Haye believes by ducking him and fighting lower risk challenges, Klitschko is doing boxing a real disjustice and the sibling champions are killing the sport.
When Wladimir retires, even if he has all the belts, what can he say to his kids? ‘O yeah I was heavyweight champion of the world… I boxed err… Sultan Ibragimov! – It means nothing… The only person people will be asking him about are the same they’re asking him now. when you gonna fight David Haye? He had the opportunity… he could sign it now! He could sign for the fight now! I’m just hoping through public demand, the public will say ‘we don’t want Dereck Chisora, we don’t want any other fighter other than David Haye! That’s what the public need to say to him. No other fight until he fights me! Because if he doesn’t, he is doing boxing a real disjustice single handily. Ive said it before the Klitschko brothers are killing the sport of boxing.” – David Haye
Meanwhile David Haye has been forced to now open negotiations with his mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev to defend his WBA heavyweight title at the end of May.
If the Klitschko fight doesn’t come off, then Haye will have to face Chagaev.
