David Haye’s iPhone app in which he knocks the head off an eastern European boxer, which represents Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko his opponent on July 2 has been selling well and Haye is hoping the taunt will rile Klitschko enough to stand, fight and go to ‘War’.
Haye had previously worn a T-shirt that shown him holding up the severed heads of Klitschko and his brother Vitali. Wladimir had dared the Londoner to do so again. But Haye, the WBA champion who hopes to take Klitschko’s IBO, WBO and IBF titles off him in Hamburg’s Itech Arena believes he has gone one better with his new iphone app game.
Regarding David Haye’s Knockout app, which was launched last week, he said: “It’s to show people tactically how to beat someone, someone like Wladimir for instance. I’ve got the skill sets and if you play this game you’ll realise it’s not just [about] going out there and blasting away, it’s about tactics, skill and defensive movements as well as offensive movements.
“I have gone one better this time the new thing is these iPhone apps and this is selling really good, it’s in the top 30 apps of about half a million. So people want to see a big guy get his head punched off.”
“People are downloading, playing it and loving it: I’m getting so much love on my Twitter page,” he said. “Everyone is seeing how quickly they can knock out this big guy. It takes skill and dedication to take the head off – it took me a little while.
“I know I’m the little guy in the fight, I’m used to being the little guy in the fight, but this is me showing the world you can beat these giants. I’ve proved it before. I fought a guy that Wladimir and Vitali didn’t fight – Nikolay Valuev. It took me going over to Germany to beat this guy and get this WBA title.”
“This is my defining fight, this is what I’ve been boxing for since I was little kid, this is the night when I can prove to everybody universally that I’m the man. That’s the driving force that I need. It does not come any bigger than this. I can’t remember any fight as big as this, that’s generated as much hype. Even Tyson-Lennox, in Memphis. This fight stadium-wise, the numbers will be bigger than that [and] both those guys, in my opinion, were over the hill a little. They weren’t fighting each other in their peak.
“This time round you’ve got two best heavyweights fighting in their peak, in their prime.”
