Yassine El Maachi defeated former world champion Junior Witter to claim the latest welterweight Prizefighter Trophy at the York Hall Bethnall Green and gatecrash the British domestic scene.
The Moroccan born Londoner was the shock performer of the tournament and takes home the tidy Prize of £32,000.
It wasn’t a vintage Prizefighter classic but it was an enthralling one and a real clash of styles and at times tangled themselves in knots, in a very difficult final to score, with not many punches being landed.

But it was El Maachi who took the decision on the three judges scorecards, The first judge had it 29-29 a draw, with the other two judges scoring it 29-28 in favor of El Maachi.

“Ive been waiting for this chance for 11 years, for a long time and now I’ve got it.” a delighted El Maachi told SkySports.
