London 2012 Olympic Gold medalist Luke Campbell MBE  was today unveiled as the newest signing of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport stable of fighters. The most successful boxer ever produced by team GB will fight on the big outdoor event to be held in his home city of Hull.

“I’m overwhelmed to be a part of Matchroom and I’m very excited about our journey together and where we can go.” said Campbell.

“I’ve been an amateur boxer for Great Britain now for the last 13-years, won medals and title’s in every major league and tournament. I’ve had a bit of time out after the Olympics and everyone knows I did ‘Dancing on Ice’ – Which give me time to rest my body, rest my mind and the passion and the hunger that now burns inside me for this new journey, the professional route.

“I know it’s going to be tough, but I’ve got the best team around me and I’m confident we can go all the way together.” added Campbell.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, said he was delighted to welcome Campbell to Matchroom and spoke of his fighters determination and popularity, and added that, he is looking to grow the ever popular boxer onto much bigger things, starting in his home city of Hull on July 13. “His popularity in Hull I must say is beyond anything I have ever seen in any city since the likes of Ricky Hatton.” said Hearn.

“Were gonna grow Luke Campbell all over the country, but first the journey will begin for us on July 13 in Hull on a hugh outdoor event, like for no other turning professional.” added Hearn
