This 2015 Fight of the Year candidate between Andrzej Fonfara and Britain’s Nathan Cleverly on Friday, October 16th and broke records, with 936 combined punches landed, 2,524 thrown and 705 power punches connecting with their opponent. Those numbers beat all CompuBox records for the 174lb. weight class over the last 30 years!
The fight was held at the UIC Arena in Andrzej Fonfara’s adopted home of Chicago filled to capacity with Polish supporters. With a massive turnout, Cleverly had plans to rain on the Polish Prince’s parade.
The fight was filled with fireworks, with both fighters pushing the action through out the fight. Combinations were thrown in bunches and the fight was one dictated by their offensive aggression.
This was a must see fight and could have gone either way, but in the end, Fonfara was victorious, out boxing Cleverly in a fight for the ages.
