Having spent weeks preparing for a Commonwealth featherweight title defence against Tshifhiwa Munyai, Morecambe’s Isaac Lowe (9st 8oz) was instead handed a six-round tick over fight against Spain’s Elvis Guillen (9st 8oz) after visa issues prevented South African Munyai from competing.
Lowe (13-0-1 5 KO’S) was extremely disappointed by the whole saga, but managed to put it behind him and he comfortably outworked Guillen (Elvis leaves the building with a 9-25-4, 6 early record).
Lowe kept the fight at a range he was comfortable with and had too much ability when the pair met at close quarters. After six rounds, Lowe earned a 60-54 win but limped away at the end after seemingly damaging his ankle in the final seconds.
