Luis Concepcion (35-4, 24 KOs) failed to make weight at the second time of asking in Manchester today and has been stripped of his WBA Super flyweight crown.

The 31-year-old was due to make a voluntary defence against Birmingham’s Khalid Yafai on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title defence against Eric Molina, but the title will only be on the line for the British boxer.

Coming in over 2lbs above the limit, the Panama-based titlist was given time to sweat the weight off yet was unable to do so, leaving the WBA with no choice but to ask him to relinquish his belt.

More to follow.
