Promoter Frank Warren has tabled offers to Kell Brook and Luke Campbell to fight Liam Smith and Terry Flanagan next year.
Both all-British fights would gain huge interest, however as of yet Warren has not received a response from the fighters’ management team.
“I’ve offered Kell Brook good money to fight Liam Smith,” he told BoxNation. “We put a great offer on the table for Luke Campbell to fight Terry Flanagan, but we’ve not even had an answer.”
Liam Smith and Kell Brook were both unsuccessful in their last World Title fights, losing to Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin, so both men will feel they have something to prove.
An intriguing clash between Terry Flanagan and Luke Campbell for Turbo’s WBO World Lightweight Title is one that could divide opinion about who would win.
“It’s a great fight for the fans and that’s what we’re in the business of doing – making great fights. It was a substantial offer,” Warren added.
Flanagan recently extended his unbeaten record to 32-0, the longest current stretch in British boxing, while Campbell defeated Derry Mathews in October to defend his Commonwealth belt. Warren is unsure why the Hull southpaw would turn down the fight for the World Lightweight crown.
“You can only ask him [why he wouldn’t take it], and the press should ask. Luke Campbell is a good fighter, he’s a great ambassador for the sport, he’s done everything in the Olympics,” he added.
