As the festive period approaches Scott Calow serves up an early Christmas treat to the Nottingham boxing fans by announcing his second promotion at Harvey Hadden headlined by Ekow The Engine Essuman defends his Welterweight English title against his most difficult opponent to date in former British champion Tyrone Nurse on March 16th 2019. Elsewhere the card is stacked with local talent in a show that will look to carry on the momentum created by the last card held in October.

In co-promotion with Joe Elfidh Promotions, this blockbuster show is a signal of intent by Scott Calow promotions and will be hoping to announce a national broadcaster early in 2019 as negotiations for TV deal are ongoing displaying the magnitude of the show. As always there will be opportunities for local sponsors, and the weigh in will be held at a location made open to the public the day prior as is standard with championship bouts.

Essuman finally has his acid test in classy operator Tyrone Nurse who holds the keys that Essuman wants to unlock the door to the bigger domestic fights. Nurse is – known to the public having contested many of his bouts on national TV platforms such as Boxnation, BT sport, & Sky sports – a former British, English and Central area champion along with being runner up in a Prizefight so his credentials are the for all to see. With Nurse trying to regroup following a difficult phase of his career and Essuman on the ascent this is what is known in the trade as a cross roads fight where the winner will move on to big fight nights later in the year.

Essuman is backed up by a strong supporting cast of Chad Sugden who will be competing in his first 10 rounder in what’s hoped to be a light heavyweight title contest. Sugden has regrouped since his tight loss to Alistair Warren amassing a string of wins to find himself in contention for titles. A decorated kickboxer, Chad 2 Slick will want to be decorated in the professional boxing ranks too.

On the topic of Sugden, his little brother Regis makes his professional boxing debut on the card having previously been a kickboxer and professional mixed martial artist competing on national shows run by the BAMMA outfit. He will want to upstage his brother on the show as he carves a name for himself in the boxing fraternity.

That is not the only debut on this show as Kyle Hughes of Ilkeston who resembles superstar Saul Canelo Alvarez makes his first professional outing after a frustrating year of cancellations. Kyle was an experienced amateur with an all action style which will leave the audience entertained. Joe Hughes (no relation) of Beeston also makes his pro bow on the show following a successful run in the unlicensed scene where he never tasted defeat which he will want to carry on.

With the heavyweight boxing scene being the best it has for years, Mark Bennett provides the heavyweight match. Having won his second fight against Dorian Darch in impressive fashion, Bennett secured a points win in his last outing against a far more experience opponent who shared the ring with many classy operators and will be looking to put in a destructive performance as he chases a fight with Kash Ali for an area title.

Super middleweight Dylan Clegg has looked impressive in his first 2 outings and he will want to maintain that form in his third pro contest. Elsewhere Nathan Kirk looks to regroup with a win following a controversial defeat in Bournemouth, and Unbeaten Jack Hutsby will get the next fight in his short career as he looks to move from local prospect to a contender. Grime Artist come Boxer Omari ‘Kriptik’ Grant looks to move to 8 – 0 as pursues a midlands title fight.

The show is rounded up with Ryan Amos and Jordan Ringham having their second pro contest respectively. One week prior on the 9th of March, Scott Calow has new signing in former east midlands amateur champion Sam Spooner box in Dinnington show in first pro contest. Carwyn Herbert also has his 6th professional contest on the show as he chases a welsh title shot to make it an active start to 2018 for Scott Calows stable.

In co-promotion with Joe Elfidh Promotions, this blockbuster show is a signal of intent by Scott Calow promotions as he approaches 2019 with a bang. With boxers remaining active on a range of shows, the big nights are definitely back in Nottingham. Tickets will be available in the new year from the fighters and the promotion direct.
