‘The Mathemagician’ Ramez Mahmood continued his excellent start to the professional game, picking up another victory against a previously unbeaten fighter as he sets his sights on the Southern Area title in 2019.
Mahmood is a Maths teacher by trade, working full time teaching kids whilst training around school hours with rising Essex based trainer Michael Amoo-Bediako Jnr. The 24 year old discussed what life in like balancing two very contrasting careers.
Mahmood said, “I get up every morning and go and do my runs and track work, then I head into school and teach all day and then go to the gym in the evening and everything is in the vicinity of each other so it’s ideal.
“I really enjoy teaching and have a great bunch of kids too so that makes life a lot easier for me stress-wise! It’s great to give back and teaching is very rewarding in a different way that boxing is but the rewards from both are what I strive for in life.”
Ramez is training under the guidance of Essex trainer Michael Amoo-Bediako Jnr and Mahmood opened up about his relationship with Michael Jnr.
The Mathemagician said, “Michael Jnr is a pleasure to work with. He’s so knowledgeable for his age and he looks to bring the best out of your abilities and doesn’t look to change everything which I think is what a trainer should be like.
“We bounce ideas off each other and work really well as a team and I feel I am improving in every fight I have and with the team of Michael Jnr managing me and his father Michael Amoo-Bediako Snr managing me, I’m confident I can win titles in 2019.”
Mahmood is in line to challenge for the Southern Area title in the not so distant future in what in a buzzing Super Bantamweight division in Britain at the moment. The Essex Super Bantamweight gave his take on what he sees for himself in 2019.
The Super Bantamweight contender said, “I want to do things the old fashioned way and win the Southern Area title then move on to the English, Commonwealth and British titles.
“I believe the Southern Area title is realistic for the early months of 2019 and with the help of my team and sponsors Cakes and Shakes, Syck Talent, Precision Builds and Developments and ARC I’m confident I can get to the top.”
