The management representative of undefeated heavyweight contender Joe Joyce has today told Sky Sports that ‘good progress’ is being made on a potential fight between his man and former world champion Joseph Parker.

Adam Morallee of S-Jam Boxing was cautious to note that ‘the fight isn’t finalised yet, but good progress is being made’. A potential fight between the pair would mark a bold move for Joyce who is already ranked number one with the World Boxing Organisation, meaning he could effectively sit and wait for a title shot over the next few years instead of risking it against a dangerous Parker who looked fresh and improved in his last fight against Dereck Chisora. ‘We hope we can land it in the UK for UK fight fans to watch Joe Joyce continue his ascent to the top of the division’, Morallee said.

Parker held the WBO title for two years before surrendering it to Anthony Joshua in 2018.

Joyce secured the biggest victory of his professional career to date when he stopped Daniel Dubois inside ten rounds in November of 2020, following the win with a sixth-round stoppage of Carlos Takam eight months later. The heavyweight landscape continues to morph and change at the top, with Tyson Fury‘s defence of his WBC crown against Dillian Whyte set to take place in under three weeks, everyone else watching with baited breath to see whether there will be another twist atop of the premier division.
