Tonight George Groves returns to the ring to take on the man known as ‘Energy Eddy’ Germany’s Eduard Gutknecht at Wembley Arena in his 28th pro fight, and you can catch it live on Channel 5 from 10pm.
The determined Groves (24-3, 18KOs) is still convinced he has what it takes to become a world champion and still pursues his goals and a fourth shot at a world glory, having twice been defeated in his previous attempts – twice by Carl Froch and then to WBC champion Badou Jack last year.

Standing in the way of the ‘Saints’ plans this evening is the tough seasoned 34-year-old Kazakhstani born former European light-heavyweight champion, and world title challenger Eduard Gutknecht, (30-4-1, 13KOs) – Gutknecht lost to (then) WBO super-middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz in 2010 and WBA champion Juergen Braehmer in March this year up at light-heavyweight, in two unsuccessful world title attempts himself, and he will be no easy push over for Groves, who will do well to force any kind of stoppage against this away fighter. But Expect a clear points victory for the Londoner in what could be an entertaining scrap.
Both fighters weighed in yesterday (video below) with Groves coming in at 11st, 13lb, 7oz while Gutknecht was bang on the 12st super-middleweight limit for Groves’ WBA International title.
