Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn told the ‘DAZN Boxing Show‘ on Wednesday that he intends to file an exemption request to the WBA which will allow light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol to defend his title against Britain’s Joshua Buatsi next. Unbeaten Mexican Gilberto Ramirez is posed as the next mandatory challenger for the strap, but Hearn hopes the governing body will agree to postpone that fight until after Bivol and Buatsi step into the ring with each other.

Bivol pulled off a sizeable upset in May when he outpointed pound-for-pound king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Las Vegas while Buatsi edged past domestic rival Craig Richards, who endured twelve rounds with the Russian Bivol himself in May last year.
