BOXXER and Sky Sports announced a multi-fight deal on Friday with world super-welterweight contender Liam Smith as the Liverpudlian gears towards the final stages of an already hugely successful professional career.
‘Beefy’ has fought three times in the last twelve months, initially losing a decision to Magomed Kurbanov in the Russian’s backyard before getting back to winning ways in an all-Liverpool Scouse derby versus Anthony Fowler in October. After several years of back-and-forth between the pair, Smith comfortably dismantled Jessie Vargas at Madison Square Garden two months ago to maintain a strong footing at world level in the 154lb division.
The thirty-three-year-old Smith has now parted ways with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing to team up with Ben Shalom at BOXXER and the Sky platform as he looks to land another shot at world honours. The Liverpool man holds strong positions with every major sanctioning body, and has also entertained the idea of fighting Chris Eubank Jr., who also has a deal with Sky.
