According to Chris McKenna of the Daily Star, Leigh Wood‘s upcoming featherweight clash versus Mauricio Lara in Nottingham on September 24th has been postponed due to an injury sustained by the Brit in training. The show will still take place at the Nottingham Arena however, with the lightweight contest between Maxi Hughes and Kid Galahad now moved into the main event slot.

The Nottingham man is in the form of his life, having disposed of Xu Can and Michael Conlan, the latter coming in a phenomenal turnaround victory in the dying seconds of the twelfth round, to move past the tricky Mexican in seek of a mega showdown with the winner of Leo Santa Cruz‘s unification with Rey Vargas at 126lbs. Lara is no slouch however, evidenced by his sensational ninth-round stoppage of Josh Warrington in February 2021, a victory which proved to be one of the standout upsets of the year.
