Chris Eubank Sr. wrote into Spencer Fearon‘s ‘The Fight is Right’ podcast to encourage a boycott of this weekend’s catchweight showdown between son Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

Senior expressed concerns for his son’s safety regarding the weight-making process for the 157lb catchweight limit, a weight Junior has not fought at since he was eighteen. Junior normally operates at middleweight, which has a limit of 160lbs, while Benn is set to move up ten pounds from welterweight.

Senior got in touch with Fearon who appeared alongside Tunde Ajayi and Johnny Nelson for the episode and revealed the British boxing icon’s message regarding the bout this weekend. “Dear Spencer and the Fight is Right. Boycott the fight. Eubank Jr versus Benn, you know what three pounds below the middleweight limit at 33-years-old can do. This is how brain injuries occur“.

It is difficult not to sympathise with Senior regarding his concerns for his son’s health, especially given recent events which saw son Sebastian Eubank tragically lose his life at the age of 29. The main thing is that both men enter and leave the ring in good health on Saturday night, whatever the outcome.
